About us

Props and Goggles is an aquatic theatre company, specialising in swimming experiences where we teach children the fundamental water confidence skills, every child needs to learn, through interactive games and storytelling.

Learning is at the heart of our core values, and what makes us exciting is our promise to make the hard stuff fun. Utilising costumes and props our aim is to add excitement to swimming, producing fun and engaging worlds where children can creatively learn.

At Props and Goggles, we believe in eliminating any initial fears children may have. In creating memorable childhood experiences, combined with certified training, we leave children eager to return to the water confident in their ability.

Meet the crew

Props and Goggles were founded by Lori Gargani, an Artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Her Degree in Performance Design and Practice and experience in the Edutainment industry informed her ability to create innovative learning experiences, which aim to stimulate a child’s imagination.

Lori has designed for festivals, children’s workshops and most recently been the Activity Designer for KidZania London, an indoor city for kids age 4-14 years, which blends learning and reality with entertainment.

As well as designing, Lori spends her time teaching swimming to children in various pools around London. Growing up, she swam for Ealing Swimming Club (ESC), before going on to gain her Level 2 Award in Teaching Aquatics in 2011 and STA Award in teaching Baby and Preschool.

Props and Goggles collaborate with enthusiastic and experienced performers, to create a unique blend of theatre and swimming, combined with the Swim England curriculum.

Why is swimming so important?

Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths- according to the World Health Organization, 2016. Furthermore, globally, the highest drowning rates are among children 1-4 years, followed by children 5-9 years. Props and Goggles is inspired to teaching children this life saving skill in a fun, theatrical way.
